The matrix shows the level of JRebel support for the particular container. The columns should be interpreted as follows:

  • Exploded. Support for reloading classes and resources in exploded deployment (project folder deployed directly to the server instead of WAR/EAR).
  • <classpath>. Support for loading classes and resources in packaged deployment (WAR/EAR) as specified by <classpath> in the rebel.xml. Also needed to support embedded plugins.
  • <web> resources. Support for loading web resources in packaged deployment (WAR/EAR) as specified by <web> in the rebel.xml.

“For the price, and for how easy it is to get installed and running in a developers’ environment, using JRebel is pretty close to a no-brainer.”
