Get a free JavaRebel license
July 17th, 2008 by Jevgeni KabanovUPDATE: The campaign has finished and the registration is closed. Congratulations to all who won and everyone who didn’t can still grab the discounted personal license.
This week we ran a campaign at DZone giving away 150 JavaRebel personal licenses for free. The campaign was so successful that we decided to extend it to everyone and give 50 licenses extra to those who register here first. Please provide you real name as we find it hard to apply the EULA to “Mr Chocolate Bear”.
As another part of our summer promotional campaign we will discount the personal licenses for JavaRebel to $49 until the end of summer, so if you don’t get the free license you can still grab one cheaply. This offer extends only to single seat licenses, not organizational ones.
Note also that we plan to change the JavaRebel licensing policy in the near future. The license will become a yearly subscription and will be priced differently. The details will be announced two weeks before the change, but we advice everyone who wants to take advantage of the current prices and perpetual licensing policy to make your purchase soon.

You register at http://www.zeroturnaround.com/javarebel/ by pressing “Get a free JavaRebel license” in the middle.

What a Semi - Farce!
I was the first to discover the “promotion” in my company. I registered, and then sent an email to all my java collegues so they could participate also.
On the site it says:
“We will give away 50 personal JavaRebel licenses to those who register first”.
Register first is the important word here.
I received a mail with the denied license:
“Unfortunately you did not make it to the first 150 to receive a free JavaRebel license”
But, surprise! : two of my collegues received the license even as they registered much later - 2, 3 hours. How could this be?
It’s not a total farce, in the sense that my two collegues received the license but a farce nonetheless.

Hi Serban,
Well, the 50 personal JavaRebel licenses went out in the first hour. The requests kept coming in. They are still coming in.
We decided give out more but they are not served as a first-come-first-serve basis as the first 50 (or 150 campaign couple of days earlier).
As we are giving out extra licenses that we did not advertise we’re actually drawing a raffle about every hour.
This should explain why your collegues received their license even as they registered much later. All of you did not make it to the first 50 but they had luck in the raffle.
You just might get lucky during the next raffle:)
Thank you for your concern,
Toomas
